On Monday morning when I arrived to the office, I realized that it was exactly 3 months ago that I had landed back in YVR from an epic month in Hawaii. 3months ago at 9AM, I was sitting at a cafe with my sweet friend Asher fresh off of a red eye, reminiscing over what the heck had just gone on in the land of aloha… #ohboy! It was pouring rain and the air was cold. What I knew for sure was that I was back home in Vancouver; I didn’t know who from the trip I’d stay in touch with, I wasn’t super clear on how things would be back at work, I was about to move to a new pad with my Bro and was hoping that when I put on my running shoes, I’d still have a desire to run! Alot can change in one year and one month in Hawaii can in fact, rock your sweet lil world.
However, this morning I slept in and exchanged a bright + early treadmill run for a mid-morning tready run. And instead of looking backward, I was struck by the fact that I’m 7months away from the big qualifier of a start line, meaning Kona is 9months away. Most women know that 9months create lil miracles and I’d like to believe that I have 9months to my next miracle: a new age group, a new course (a hard course at that!), a new coach (wait, a coach!) and the #alohalove burns brightly. I have found a really fond love of the treadmill, indoor suffer fests and a child-like love of the pool again.
And the special friends of Hawaii have remained special, work is clearly great and living with my Bro is all kinds of awesome. So here’s to looking forward to the next 9months…the sacred last months of my 20′s!
