Just like you bow your head to thank the hands of your Farmer, your Heavenly Father or your earthly Mother before a delicious meal, I find myself bowing to the extraordinary human beings who have been along for this ride. The last supper will be served Sunday morning at 7AM and grateful is an understatement. (Quite frankly, IM aside, this world could use a lil mo’gratitude + a lil mo’lovemaking in my humble opinion!)

To my Ma + Pa who spent countless hours on the phone with me while I was sweating on the trainer (perhaps crying!) all winter long and were perfectly ignorant enough to never question “injury”, thank you. You guys are rocks o’love.

Golly – i just found this picture – it really just about sums it up!

To my Bro who informed me that life doesn’t need to be quite so black and white all the time – when i wanted to quit, he’d gently (or not so gently!) remind me that quitting isn’t necessary. He knows love, #truthbombs + silent-support unlike anyone else on this planet. Thank you for just being you, always.

i hope to run like this kid!

To Susie + Diane for dragging me along for the ride, until I could no longer keep up. May you both have the races you’ve dreamed of on Sunday – you really are twin engines.

To Doug for saying Yes back in September – I wouldn’t have signed up otherwise. You have set a high bar of what it means to be an IronFan and I will forever be grateful.

To Fletchy, for taking me on rides and swims that I otherwise would not have experienced. You are an example of resiliency + mighty fight; thank you.

To Whitey for allowing me to swimbikerun pain free! You reign the finest masseuse in my world; my body thanks you.

To Sweet Adriano at Dizzy for fitting me back on my tri bike, mere weeks ago. I am certain this course will thank me for hunkerin’ down in my aero bars and something tells me that the marathon will be even mo’bettah because of you! Thank you.

To TeamAwesome + the crew of lulu’ers, you make every day of “work” worth while. Thank you for showing up.

To Mikey for the down dogs and up dogs, literally + figuratively, along this journey – I bow to you with a heart of thanks + heaps of love.

To JoJo Hudson…i still can’t believe you are making the trek to CdA! You know friendship like none other and I only hope that as you see dreams come true on Sunday, you will realize your greatest dreams are awaiting your permission to be granted! Thank you girlfriend.

To DLP for being a soul sistah of truth + love when the days are dark and when they are bright. You remind me to take the high road, keep it easy and do epic shit, always. You shine; my heart adores you.

To Dr. Sukhi Muker - words do no justice. You were the saviour to my temple of troubles and the believer in what just miiiiiiiiiiiight be possible. You created the plan, you taught me integrity in it’s highest form and showed me what it looks like to crush dreams.  MahaloMahaloMahalo!

he is the man; he is my legend!

To new friends and old friends, online and offline, acquaintances and otherwise….your notes of love, cheer + encouragement nevereverever go unread nor unappreciated. (But perhaps not always responded to – sorry!) I remain, great, full to you all!

And lastly to my most cherished + scruffy sidekick, who never turns down an adventure and can keep up with the best of them even at 100yrs old…Willy!

With an exploding heart,
I thank you. xo

  2. Steph – came across your blog from Mike’s post on facebook. We have practised beside each other at NSE. So cool to read about your adventure. Long distance Triathlon was part of my play many years ago…and is actually what led me to yoga. HEART is what all this stuff is about. And from practising with you – that is all you!!! You will be awesome!! Enjoy the experience, celebrate the ability to traverse great distances with your own POWER and HEART. Wahoo!!!! I will be thinking of you tomorrow.

    • Thanks Corrina! There is something so beautiful about distance triathlons+yoga…and heart just might be the common demoninator. Thank you for that reminder. It was a tough day…and perfect in so many respects. See you on the mat! xo
